Working at camp is more than a summer job. It’s leadership, mentorship, and community—all packed into an experience that sticks.
If you like working with kids, being part of a team, and doing something that actually matters — camp might be for you.
If you are excited about camp, this is where to start. Choose the option that fits you best:
Ohdaka Day Camp is a one-week camp in June. It’s short — but packed with energy, connection, and leadership moments.

Training & Commitment (All Roles)
All Ohdaka staff complete a mandatory half-day, on-site training and an online handbook review before the week of camp. Optional skill workshops may be offered ahead of camp for staff who want extra practice or certifications.
Pay: All Ohdaka staff positions are paid by stipend.
Unit Counselors lead a group (unit) of preschool, primary, or pre-teen campers through their day at camp. You’ll guide games and activities, help with transitions and routines, and be a steady, positive role model. Sometimes it feels a bit like herding cats — that’s part of the fun.
Best for people who:
like working closely with one group of kids, enjoy building relationships, and don’t mind organized chaos.
Program Counselors run a specific skill station at camp — such as cooking, crafts, games, nature skills, outdoor skills, or fishing. Camper units rotate to you throughout the day, and you’ll typically work with 3–4 different units daily.
You’re responsible for setting up your station, teaching the activity, supporting campers during the session, and cleaning up before the next group arrives. Program Counselor may also serve as a Program Lead for an additional stipend.
Best for people who:
love teaching hands-on skills, enjoy variety, and like working with lots of different campers each day.
Program Leads design and plan the camp programs ahead of time. You’ll create activities, organize supplies, and support Program Counselors during the week to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Best for people who:
enjoy planning, creativity, and leadership — and like being the person who makes activities come to life.
Junior Counselors support Unit Counselors, Program Counselors, and Program Leads by helping with activities, set-up, clean-up, and transitions. You’ll model positive behavior and be an extra set of hands during busy moments. Former Shooting Star Adventures camper experience preferred
Best for people who:
want to start building leadership skills and are interested in becoming a counselor later. This role supports a leadership progression from camper → Junior Counselor → Unit Counselor → overnight camp counselor.

Training & Commitment (All Camp Two Roads Staff)
All Camp Two Roads staff complete required pre-camp training and an online handbook review before the week of camp. Additional role-specific training may be provided.
Pay: Camp Two Roads staff positions are paid by stipend.
Cabin Counselors co-lead a cabin of 8–12 campers, support daily routines, guide morning program and recreation activities, and help build a strong cabin community. You’ll work closely with other counselors and senior staff throughout the week. Female applicants only.
Best for people who:
enjoy mentoring, teamwork, and building close connections with a group of campers.
A $50 refundable deposit is required for new counselors to hold a spot. The deposit may be refunded or used as camp store credit once camp begins. No-shows forfeit the deposit.
Our senior staff includes post-high school leaders who ensure the Camp Two Roads experience aligns with our mission. They oversee cabin counselors, create programming, and manage daily operations. Senior staff members often fulfill more than one role on staff.
Senior Staff roles may include:
Best for people who:
have prior camp or leadership experience and enjoy supporting others, planning, and problem-solving.
If you are interested in learning more about one of these roles, please email c2r@shootingstaradventures.org
This training is not being offered for the 2026 season. Campers interested in gaining leadership experience should consider applying to be a junior counselor for our day camp programs and registering as regular campers at Camp Two Roads.
Internships are a great way to build leadership, creativity, and real-world experience — even outside the summer.
Training & Commitment (All Internships)
Interns complete required onboarding and role-specific training before starting. Schedules are flexible and arranged individually depending on the internship and time of year.
Pay: Internship positions are unpaid and focused on skill-building, leadership development, and real-world experience.
Social Media & Marketing Interns help create and plan digital and print content that highlights camps, events, and staff life. You may help with posts, graphics, captions, and behind-the-scenes planning alongside our Media Specialist.
Best for people who:
enjoy creativity, storytelling, design, or social media and want real experience to build a portfolio.
Photography Interns support camps and events by taking, editing, uploading, and organizing photos. You’ll work directly with our Media Specialist to help capture camp moments and tell the story of our programs.
Best for people who:
love photography, want hands-on experience, and enjoy capturing moments in fast-paced environments.
Note: Camp Two Roads is an all-girls overnight camp. Only female applicants are considered for internships at C2R. Male applicants are welcome to apply for internships with our non-profit and co-ed programs.
The Counselor-in-Training program is not offered for the 2026 season.
If you’re interested in leadership, we recommend:

Choosing a camp name is part of camp culture — and sometimes the hardest decision you’ll make.
There are lots of great options, but before you fall in love with one, check our list of current and retired camp names. The Camp Director approves all names to make sure they’re easy for campers to say, easy for staff to use, and not confusingly similar to someone else’s.
Not ready for a camp staff role but still want to support our programs? We rely on volunteers and behind-the-scenes help throughout the year to keep camps running strong.
