The Wilderness Is Calling
We know Ohdaka Day Camp is just one week at the beginning of summer (and we wish it were longer), but that one week packs more growth, laughs, connection, and awesome moments than most summer jobs can claim. It’s the perfect way to kick off your summer—whether you’re a teen, in college, or in your twenties—you’ll walk away with stories, skills, friends, and experiences that stick with you.

Here’s why joining the Ohdaka staff should be at the top of your summer plans.
Most summers start slow—laundry, food delivery, scrolling. Not here. Ohdaka launches you straight into something active, meaningful, and social. One great week at camp sets the tone for the rest of the season.
From day one, campers see you as a leader. You help them feel confident, included, and brave enough to try new things—and you feel that impact immediately.

You’ll practice teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and staying calm when things get chaotic. These are real-life skills you’ll use in school, jobs, and beyond.
Counselors aren’t dropped into a jungle with no tools — you’re supported by experienced staff and peers who want you to succeed. That means regular check-ins, encouragement, and a culture that says “we rise together.”

Games, outdoor adventures, creative projects, nature time, and unexpected camp moments keep the week moving fast. No two days feel the same—and the week flies by. You Get to Help Create the Fun.
This isn’t a job where you just follow a script. Ohdaka has room for returning team members to grow into program roles—where you help design activities, train new counselors, and shape the camp experience. Many of our leaders started as counselors.
Outdoor cooking. Hiking. Fishing. Nature crafts. Survival skills. Exploring local trails. If you love something about the outdoors, there’s room to teach it. Program staff get to turn their passions into hands-on experiences kids remember.

You don’t need to be the loudest person in the group to thrive here. Thoughtful, creative, steady leaders shine—and many staff leave camp feeling more confident than when they arrived.
Camp counselor experience stands out. Colleges and employers see leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and initiative—especially when you’ve helped lead programs or mentor others.

Ohdaka is short, but it sticks with you. You leave with inside jokes, new friendships, stronger skills, and that unbeatable “camp glow.”
If you want to kick off summer doing something more active, meaningful and fun, we’d love to hear from you. Applications are open now.
